Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissionerate was created vide Government Order NoHD-91/POP/1989 Dated:17/10/1989. The Government also appointed Commissioner of Police, Hubli –Dharwad as District Magistrate vide Government Notification No.HD/1001/PCC/1989 Dated.17/10/1989 for the area coming under the jurisdiction of Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation. The Commissioner of Police is exercising powers, performing the functions and duties and responsibilities as provided under the Karnataka Police Act 1963. He is assisted by Deputy Commissioner Law and Order, Deputy Commissioner Crime and Traffic and Deputy Commissioner City Armed Reserve and also five Assistant Commissioner of Police.
